About the event

Join us for our 2025 Internship Symposium! Both of our Summer Research Interns will share their research topics and tell us about their findings during the presentation. Afterwards, we invite you to explore the final products of their research.

Our High School Intern, Patience Penney is researching the role of women during each of Lake Jackson's eras. These eras include the Plantation Era, early Lake Jackson (1940s), and more recent history. Patience plans to showcase her research in the form of an exhibit panel display.

College Intern, Drew Denton is researching the history of the local businesses that fostered a sense of community in Lake Jackson including, Lake Drug, Lake Theater, El Chico, Dairy Bar, and Jasmine Hall. Drew will compile her research into a series of short articles.
