Scouts are invited to join us for a two day workshop where they will earn partial completion of the Model Design & Building Merit Badge. LJHA volunteer, Jeff Laver, will assist our Youth Education Manager with the workshop in order to share his knowledge and experience with model building. Laver is a model train enthusiast and has created a model of the Alden B. Dow Office Museum, which is on display at the Lake Jackson Historical Museum. During the time of this workshop, we will also have a model train exhibit on display.
Scouts will be able to complete requirements 1(a), 4(a), and 6 during this workshop. They are expected to complete requirements 2(a), 2(b), 2(c), 3(a), 3(b), 3(c), 3(d), and 3(e) at least one month prior to the workshop. Scouts will be required to send copies of their plans to our Youth Education Manager, Jordan Weaver, no later than Monday, June 22nd. This will give Jordan and Jeff time to review the plans and give feedback. This will also allow Jordan to compile a list of materials and communicate materials that will be provided to Scouts during the workshop. Scouts are welcome to bring in any additional materials they may want to use to create their models.
We will have a lunch break each day during the workshop. Make sure to bring a sack lunch that does not need to be heated up.
The workshop will take place at the Lake Jackson Historical Museum from 10 AM - 3 PM both days.
Registration Fee:
LJHA Members: $65/Scout
Non-Members: $75/Scout
The deadline to register is Monday, June 22 at 5 PM.
Scouts may set up a time to meet with Jordan at the museum or via Zoom (with parent permission) after the workshop to receive credit for remaining requirements not covered during the workshop. This should be arranged via email.

Cancellation Policy:
In the event that your Scout is no longer able to attend the workshop, cancellations must be made prior to Thursday, July 16, at 5 PM in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations made after this date will not be able to be refunded, but may instead be credited towards a future workshop or event.
