Something to Chew On with Wade Dillon

Something to Chew On is our monthly lunch-and-learn program held every third Thursday of the month at noon. We invite the public to spend their lunch break at the museum learning about an interesting topic of local and regional history. 

This month, our guest speaker is Wade Dillon, director of the Freeport Historical Museum. Wade will give a talk titled "Velasco at the Time of the Revolution, " which will focus on the town of Velasco during the Texas Revolution. The site of the 1832 Battle of Fort Velasco, the town of Velasco played an important role in the Texas Revolution. As a port located at the mouth of the Brazos, Velasco saw the raising of volunteers under James Walker Fannin Jr. and the birth of the Texas Navy. 

Wade Dillon is an accomplished artist, illustrator, and living historian with a lifelong passion for Texas History. Today, Wade is busy as the Museum Manager for the Freeport Historical Museum; using his talents to restructure the space into a historical, narrative time-line from early history to modern day.
